Managing Director of Goliath and Goliath, Kate Goliath, gets serious about comedy with us. With a background in corporate communications, she transitioned to becoming an agent for some of the biggest names in SA comedy, including her brother Jason, cousin Nicholas, and distant cousin Donovan. Comedians aren’t exactly known for their organisational skills, so Kate uses her corporate background to help them focus on just being funny.
In this episode, Kate shares how lockdown reshaped their business, the importance of professionalism in the comedy industry, and what it takes to get Loyiso Gola to answer your phone call. We also dig into her personal life, discussing her initial aspiration to be a journalist, the significant influence of her mother, and how she’s fought for her place in a male-dominated industry. It’s a fascinating exploration of the business side of show business. Enjoy.
